Supporting Research Through Funding Opportunities

Research funding may be available through national research councils, international funding programmes, universities, foundations, charitable organizations, industry partners, and other eligible funding bodies.

Each programme has its own objectives, eligibility criteria, application procedures, funding limits, deadlines, and reporting requirements. Researchers should review the official programme documentation before deciding whether to apply.

Through this section, IISCC can provide a structured gateway to funding information, support awareness of relevant grant programmes, and encourage institutions to collaborate on proposals where international partnerships are permitted.

Listing a funding programme should not imply that IISCC administers the grant, guarantees eligibility, or guarantees that an application will be successful.

From Research Idea to Funding Application

Step 1 — Identify the Right Call

Match the research idea to the funder's priorities, eligible applicants, geographic restrictions, and application requirements.

Step 2 — Develop the Research Proposal

Define the research problem, objectives, originality, methodology, work packages, timeline, and expected impact.

Step 3 — Establish the Research Team

Identify suitable collaborators, assign responsibilities, and obtain the required institutional commitments.

Step 4 — Prepare the Budget

Estimate personnel, equipment, travel, research activities, and other eligible costs in accordance with the call's rules.

Step 5 — Review and Submit

Check eligibility, supporting documents, ethics requirements, institutional approvals, and the deadline before submission through the authorized system.

The exact application process and evaluation criteria must always be taken from the relevant funder's official call documentation.

Stronger Proposals Through Collaboration

IISCC can help participating institutions prepare for funding opportunities by encouraging:

Identification of potential international research partners.

Development of multidisciplinary research consortia.

Alignment of institutional expertise with funding priorities.

Coordination of partner contributions and preliminary project plans.

Exchange of information about relevant funding calls.

Preparation of concept notes and collaboration proposals.

Any partner-matching or proposal-development support provided by IISCC should be clearly described according to the organization's actual capacity and available services.

Transparency and Eligibility

All funding information published on the IISCC website should be checked against the official source and include, where available:

Funding organization and programme name.

Official call page and application documents.

Opening date and submission deadline.

Eligible countries, institutions, and applicants.

Funding range, duration, and eligible costs.

Requirements for international partnerships.

Application procedure and evaluation criteria.

Date the information was last verified.

Closed calls should be marked clearly, and funding amounts or deadlines should not be presented as current unless they have been checked. IISCC should also clarify that final eligibility decisions and funding awards remain with the funding organization.

Discuss your funding needs

To start a conversation with IISCC, prepare the following introductory information:

  • Research topic and institution
  • Official funding call link, if identified
  • Current proposal stage and partnership needs
  • Non-confidential project summary

Share only information you are authorized to disclose. An inquiry does not confirm registration, project approval, a funding award, or a partnership.
